Campaign Story

* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.

Goals for My Fundraiser:

Supporting my capstone project

*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

What is ‘Virtual Community Learning Game’

Develop an immersive educational game that integrates digital design with interactive storytelling to simulate real-life challenges such as self-sufficiency and resilience. This game allows players to collaborate, overcome obstacles, and learn practical life skills in a fun, gamified way.

Components:

Game design and development

Narrative creation

Interactive programming

Community feedback sessions

Live public presentations or demos.

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)

  1. I am a ‘Engager’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
  2. I’m a total gaming nerd who’s pretty awesome at creating rad new games and digital designs. I’m working on a cool project as a tech entrepreneur, aiming to make a real difference with sustainable solutions. I hope this can help people learn to stand on their own two feet and bounce back from tough times..

My plan of action: Competitions and Activities

Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:

TSA – TSA offers technology-based competitions and hands-on experiences, ideal for developing skills in digital design and innovative tech entrepreneurship, while providing platforms for verbal communication and presentations.

FBLA – FBLA focuses on business communication, leadership, and community engagement, equipping students with essential skills for public speaking and building consensus.

Competitions

TSA – TSA Software DevelopmentThis introductory competition aligns with the project’s focus on creating interactive digital experiences, and it builds foundational programming and project management skills essential for the Virtual Community Learning Game.

FBLA – FBLA Coding & Programming

As an introductory competition, it introduces essential coding skills and creative problem-solving that support the virtual game development concept while also strengthening business communication and analytical abilities.

TSA – TSA Virtual Reality SimulationThis competition allows for an advanced exploration of digital storytelling and immersive technology. It challenges the student to use 3D graphics and simulation tools, thus enhancing the experiential quality of the Virtual Community Learning Game.

FBLA – FBLA Future Business LeaderThis advanced competition is ideal for developing business strategy, leadership, and communication skills. It helps the student build a comprehensive business plan and market strategy for the Virtual Community Learning Game.

Community Service:

Community Tech Empowerment Day

Why it fits: This activity leverages the technical and business skills developed during the competitions, offering a platform to share the passion project with the community while promoting digital literacy and community engagement.

Implementation: In Year 1 Spring, plan and host a day-long workshop in zip code 30039 at a local community center. Collaborate with local libraries and tech groups to run hands-on sessions on basic coding, digital media creation, and virtual engagement.

Skills Development: Leadership, community outreach, event planning, communication, technical instruction
